Dear Patriot Family:
As I visited classrooms, attended events, and spoke with students and staff throughout the week, I was reminded that one of the greatest strengths of Freedom High School is the connections we build every day. While academic achievement is at the heart of our work, it is the relationships between students, teachers, coaches, sponsors, support staff, and families that create a school culture where everyone can thrive.
This week’s newsletter showcases many examples of those meaningful connections. From students collaborating in rigorous classroom discussions to athletes recognizing their Teachers of Impact to student leaders volunteering, our Patriots continue to demonstrate that success is built through teamwork, support, and a shared commitment to one another. We also saw students strengthening friendships through spirit days, lunch activities, and school events that bring our community together beyond the classroom.
I am equally grateful for our incredible staff members, who invest countless hours encouraging, mentoring, and inspiring students every day. Whether through a lesson, a conversation, a club meeting, a performance, or a game, our educators make a lasting impact on the lives of our Patriots. These daily interactions help students feel seen, valued, and connected to their school community.
Thank you to our students, staff, families, and community partners for helping make Freedom High School a place where strong relationships and school pride continue to flourish. Together, we are creating experiences that inspire learning, leadership, and lifelong connections.
With Patriot Pride,
Charles M. France

Student Patriots in the Spotlight
|
Students in Ms. Fierle's class recently conducted a hands-on lab exploring how different types of soil retain water. By comparing four different soil samples, students observed which soils held more water and which allowed water to pass through more quickly. This engaging investigation helped students connect soil composition to real-world environmental concepts, including water conservation, agriculture, and ecosystem health. Through scientific observation and data collection, our Patriots gained a deeper understanding of how soil characteristics impact the world around us.

Students in Ms. Kraher’s English II classes engaged in meaningful collaboration and rigorous academic discussions as they prepared for an upcoming quiz. Through thoughtful analysis of tone, characterization, and other key literary elements, students worked together to deepen their understanding of the novel being studied. By sharing perspectives, supporting their ideas with evidence, and engaging in purposeful dialogue, students strengthened both their critical thinking and communication skills while building confidence in their literary analysis.

We are proud to celebrate our outstanding Media Center and Media Specialist, Ms. Britt-Marie Schmidt, for helping Freedom High School earn recognition as a Florida Power-Library School. This prestigious designation, awarded by the Florida Association for Media in Education (FAME) and the Florida Department of Education's Library Media Services, recognizes school library programs that promote student success, provide equitable access to high-quality resources, and foster a thriving culture of learning.
In addition to this statewide honor, Freedom High School was recognized by OCPS and received its official Florida Power-Library School banner during the FAME Conference. This achievement reflects the dedication of our media center team, faculty, staff, and students who work together to create a learning environment where literacy, innovation, research, and academic excellence thrive.

Patriot Innovation: Leading the Future with AI
|
Each edition of our Freedom High School newsletter highlights the people, programs, and achievements that make our Patriot community extraordinary. Every story, photo, and celebration featured reflects the authentic experiences, accomplishments, and contributions of our students, teachers, coaches, staff, and families.
To support the creation of the newsletter, we may use AI-powered tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Canva, and ChatGPT to assist with editing, organizing, formatting, and refining content. These tools help enhance the presentation of our stories, but the information shared always comes from real events and the genuine successes of our Freedom High School community.
Technology helps us tell the story more effectively, but the heart of every story remains our Freedom Patriots.

Building School Spirit, Creating Memories, and Making Connections |
Our final Morning Pep Rally of the season was another great success! Before Friday night's game, students and staff enjoyed an energetic start to the day thanks to performances by our talented cheerleaders, marching band, football players, and Patrick, who helped bring Patriot spirit to life. These pregame celebrations have become a special tradition, building excitement, school pride, and a sense of community throughout the season. While we will certainly miss these memorable Friday morning performances, we are grateful for the enthusiasm and dedication that made each pep rally so much fun. Thank you to everyone who helped make this tradition a highlight of the school year!

Our Patriots continue to strengthen friendships and build lasting connections by participating in our school spirit days and lunchtime activities. Throughout the week, students and staff joined in the fun by wearing pajamas, matching outfits with friends, dressing as superheroes, showing off their creativity with unique costumes, and even celebrating Ghost Day. During A and B lunches, students came together to enjoy games, activities, and plenty of school spirit. It was great to see both students and teachers participating, creating memorable experiences and reinforcing the strong sense of community that makes Freedom High School such a special place.

Students had a fantastic time at our Tailgate Event on October 30, held on the practice field before the senior football game. The event provided an opportunity for students to connect with one another, participate in games and activities, and learn more about the many clubs and organizations available at Freedom High School. Students interacted with club members, discovered new opportunities for involvement, and celebrated Patriot pride together. Our SGA classes also played an important role in making the event a success, helping create a fun and welcoming atmosphere for all. Events like these continue to strengthen student connections and build a vibrant school community.

While we proudly celebrate the accomplishments of our Freedom Patriot Band students, we also want to recognize the incredible parents and families who support the program behind the scenes. From managing uniforms and equipment to transporting instruments, organizing meals, coordinating fundraisers, and volunteering countless hours, our band parents play a vital role in the success of our students and program.
Their dedication, generosity, and unwavering support help create unforgettable experiences and opportunities for our student musicians. We are truly fortunate to have such an amazing parent community standing behind our Patriots every step of the way.

For the second year, our Freedom High School football program continued its meaningful Teacher of Impact tradition. Senior football players selected a teacher who has made a lasting difference in their lives and recognized them with a special Teacher of Impact shirt. This tradition provides an opportunity for our student-athletes to express gratitude to the educators who have supported, encouraged, and inspired them throughout their high school journey. We are proud to celebrate the strong relationships between our students and staff that help make Freedom a special place to learn and grow.
|
Freedom High School proudly celebrated Senior Night, recognizing our senior football players for their dedication, leadership, and commitment to the Patriot football program. Before the game, families, coaches, teammates, and fans honored these student-athletes for their contributions both on and off the field throughout their high school careers.
The night became even more memorable as the Patriots defeated Cypress Creek High School with an impressive 26-3 victory. Congratulations to our seniors on an outstanding season, and thank you for the pride and perseverance you have brought to Freedom High School. What a great way to celebrate Senior Night and continue the tradition of Patriot excellence!

Teach-In Day provides a unique opportunity for volunteers to connect with students by sharing their educational journey, career experiences, skills, and advice for future success. Whether you work in healthcare, technology, finance, engineering, education, public service, the trades, or another profession, your experiences can help students see the many pathways available after high school.
This tradition brings learning to life by allowing students to hear directly from professionals and community leaders, helping them make meaningful connections between classroom learning and future careers.
