Dear Patiot Family:
As we begin the second quarter, I want to encourage each of you to take a moment to reflect on your accomplishments from the first nine weeks and set new goals for the weeks ahead. The start of a new quarter is an opportunity for a fresh start, renewed focus, and a commitment to finishing the first semester strong.
Success begins with the daily habits that matter most. Attend school consistently, arrive on time, stay organized, complete assignments by their deadlines, and take advantage of the many resources available to support you. Remember that asking questions, seeking help when needed, and maintaining open communication with your teachers are signs of determination and growth. Small efforts each day lead to big results over time.
I also encourage you to get involved and make the most of your high school experience. This week, we celebrate one of our favorite traditions of the year, Homecoming Week! Participate in our spirit days, attend the activities, support your fellow Patriots, and help us showcase the incredible school spirit that makes Freedom High School such a special place. These memories and experiences are an important part of what makes high school meaningful.
As we move through the quarter, continue to challenge yourselves academically, support one another, and represent Freedom with pride. Together, we will build on the successes of the first quarter and make this semester one of our best yet.
Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to our school community. Let's make the second quarter a great one!
Go Patriots!

Learning and fun came together in Ms. Read’s AVID classroom during an engaging academic brain break focused on world geography. Students worked in teams to identify flags from countries around the world, turning a quick classroom activity into a spirited competition filled with collaboration and excitement.
The activity encouraged students to think critically, communicate with their teammates, and expand their global awareness while enjoying a well-timed break from traditional instruction. By seamlessly blending movement, teamwork, and academic content, Ms. Read created an engaging learning experience that kept students energized and involved.

Critical thinking and collaboration were on full display in Mr. Singer’s AP Cybersecurity classroom as students engaged in high-level discussions centered on complex real-world topics. Working together in groups, students analyzed issues related to logistics, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity frameworks, applying their knowledge to scenarios that mirror challenges faced by industry professionals.
Throughout the lesson, students demonstrated strong communication skills, thoughtful reasoning, and the ability to evaluate multiple perspectives while supporting their ideas with evidence. The collaborative atmosphere encouraged meaningful academic discourse and allowed students to deepen their understanding of concepts shaping today’s digital world.

Student choice and academic rigor came together in Ms. Budnik’s AP Chemistry classroom as students participated in a collaborative guided notes activity designed to support learners at different levels. Using an AVID strategy, students were able to select the level of note-taking support that best matched their learning needs, providing both structure and autonomy throughout the lesson.
As students worked together, they engaged in meaningful academic discussions, clarified complex chemistry concepts, and strengthened their understanding through collaboration. By offering differentiated supports while maintaining high expectations, Ms. Budnik created an environment where all students could actively participate and take ownership of their learning.

Freedom High School's Forestry Team had an outstanding week, showcasing the results of eight weeks of commitment, perseverance, and lunchtime training in preparation for competition. Their dedication paid off as the team improved its standing and climbed into the top 50% of teams, with students earning an impressive 11th-place finish among competitors from Orange and Osceola counties.
The Forestry Competition challenges students across a wide range of forestry and environmental science skills. Competitors complete a rigorous 50-question General Knowledge Test, identify tree species, forestry equipment, and tree disorders, and participate in practical field events that require both technical knowledge and hands-on application.
Students demonstrated their expertise by using a Biltmore stick to measure tree volume and by applying compass navigation and pacing techniques to determine distances between locations in a forest. These real-world skills provide valuable experience in forestry, conservation, and natural resource management.
Several students delivered exceptional performances throughout the competition. New team members Mackenna Dray and Kaylani Cabral embraced the challenge of their first forestry competition, while returning competitors Eva Diana Aleksandrov, Thanyasree Ayyaganapathy, and Daniel Cruz Monteagudo continued to build upon their experience and contribute to the team's success.
We are incredibly proud of the hard work, determination, and growth demonstrated by these Patriots. Their enthusiasm is already carrying forward, as team members are eagerly discussing and preparing for future competitions.

At Freedom High School, our Culinary program is serving up much more than great food. Behind every successful event is a dedicated team of student chefs who combine creativity, skill, and countless hours of hard work to make every occasion memorable.
Led by the outstanding efforts of Ms. Rose, Mr. Reid, and their talented students, the Culinary program extends far beyond the classroom. Students not only develop industry-ready skills through their coursework, but many also dedicate additional hours to the Culinary Club, volunteering to plan menus, prepare dishes, and cater school events.
Whether supporting Homecoming celebrations, staff events, or special campus functions, these students take ownership of every step of the process. From brainstorming recipes and organizing ingredients to preparing and presenting food, they consistently demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and creativity.
The impact of their work reaches every corner of our campus. Their commitment to excellence helps create memorable experiences for students, staff, families, and guests, while providing students with authentic, hands-on experiences that prepare them for future careers in the culinary industry.

Freedom High School is proud to celebrate a major achievement by Mr. Madhavan and Mr. Correa, who successfully secured a grant from Lockheed Martin to support Engineering and Physics initiatives on our campus.
This exciting grant will provide valuable resources that enhance hands-on learning experiences, allowing students to explore real-world applications of engineering, physics, problem-solving, and innovation. By bringing additional tools and opportunities into the classroom, our students will have even greater access to the experiences that prepare them for college, careers, and the rapidly evolving STEM workforce.
The dedication and vision demonstrated by Mr. Madhavan and Mr. Correa continue to elevate learning opportunities for Freedom Patriots. Their commitment to seeking out resources and creating meaningful, engaging experiences ensures that students can learn by doing, experimenting, designing, and discovering.

Patriot Innovation: Leading the Future with AI
|
Innovation and engagement were on full display in Mr. Brantley’s Biology Honors classroom as students utilized Google Notebooks and a friendly AI study bot named Bubba to review concepts and check their understanding of course content. By interacting with the AI tool, students received immediate feedback, asked questions, and reinforced key biology concepts in a dynamic and personalized way.
The activity provided students with an interactive learning experience that encouraged curiosity, critical thinking, and self-directed review while leveraging technology to support academic success. Through thoughtful integration of AI, students remained actively engaged and took greater ownership of their learning.

Every edition of our newsletter is powered by the people who make Freedom High School extraordinary. The stories, achievements, photos, experiences, and celebrations featured throughout these pages come directly from our students, teachers, coaches, staff, and school leaders.
To help bring those stories together, we may use AI-powered tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Canva, and ChatGPT to assist with editing, organization, formatting, and presentation. While technology helps streamline the process, the content itself reflects the authentic voices, accomplishments, and experiences of our Patriot community.
Simply put, AI helps us tell the story, but our Freedom Patriots are the heart of it.

Building School Spirit, Creating Memories, and Making Connections |
Freedom High School recently held its first Voices of Liberty meeting, bringing together club representatives from across campus for an important opportunity to collaborate, communicate, and help shape our school's future.
During the meeting, student leaders shared ideas, raised questions, and discussed topics that matter most to the student body. The open dialogue allowed students to voice concerns, celebrate successes, and work together to identify ways to strengthen the Freedom High School experience for all Patriots.
The meeting highlighted the power of student leadership and demonstrated our commitment to ensuring that student perspectives remain an important part of campus decision-making. By creating a space where questions can be addressed and ideas exchanged, Voices of Liberty fosters a culture of communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
We are incredibly proud of our club representatives for stepping forward as the voice of their organizations and contributing thoughtful insights that will help make Freedom High School an even better place to learn, grow, and succeed.

The event brought smiles, laughter, and plenty of Patriot spirit as students connected with one another outside the classroom during A and B lunch.
