Freedom High School Newsletter #5

December 6, 2025

From the Desk of Charles France, Principal

Dear Patriot Family,

This week has been a shining example of what makes our school community so special—connections. From students collaborating in tutoring sessions and inclusive reading activities to staff showing holiday spirit and families joining us in upcoming events, every effort strengthens the bond that defines Freedom High School.
I want to recognize the hard work and dedication of our staff and students. Whether it’s preparing for industry certifications, organizing cultural experiences, leading athletic programs, or creating unforgettable performances, your commitment to excellence inspires us all.
These moments remind us that when we work together, we achieve more than academic success; we build relationships that last. Thank you for being part of this incredible journey. Let’s keep the momentum going as we head into the holiday season and beyond!

WE ARE FREEDOM!

Academic Excellence: Where Patriots Achieve

After-School Tutoring in Full Swing!

Our dedicated Biology students are hard at work preparing for their PM2 assessments! This week’s tutoring session, led by members of the Science National Honor Society and organized by our amazing Biology teachers, Ms. Snyder, Ms. Singleton, Ms. Fierle, Ms. Jarmusch, Ms. Budnik, and Mr. Brantley, is helping students sharpen their skills and boost confidence. PM2 Biology Testing will take place throughout the blocked week of December 8th, and we are confident our students will continue to demonstrate proficiency and excellence.

Cooking Up Success in Culinary!

Our culinary students are busier than ever as they prepare for their big annual event! From mastering top-notch cooking techniques to organizing banquets, like the incredible spreads they’ve already created for our sports events, these students are showing true dedication and skill. At the same time, they’re gearing up for their industry certification exams, and the results speak for themselves: 33 students have already passed their certifications, and we haven’t even wrapped up the first semester!
A huge shout-out to our amazing culinary teachers, Ms. Rose and Ms. Reid, for guiding our students toward excellence in both the kitchen and the classroom. The future looks deliciously bright!

Building Connections Through Reading

On Fridays, our 9th-grade Reading students partner with ESE peers to foster inclusion and support learning. General education students design standards-based assignments and work in small groups on reading activities, graphic organizers, and hands-on tasks.
In one of Ms. Kline's classes, students collaborated with Mr. Ham’s class, focusing on social skills, compassion, and teamwork. These sessions highlight the power of shared learning and the meaningful bonds formed through inclusive education.

Ag Science Prepares for Certification Success

Our Agricultural Science students are hard at work as they gear up for their first attempt at industry certification exams! Under the guidance of Ms. Westgate, students rotate through eight interactive review stations, each designed to reinforce key concepts and skills needed for success.
This hands-on approach ensures students are confident and well-prepared, combining practical knowledge with academic rigor. We’re excited to see their hard work pay off as they take this important step toward certification!

This month, our Media Center has been buzzing with activity! Students have been using the space for research, collaborative projects, and quiet reading time, making it a true hub for learning and creativity. From accessing digital resources to exploring new books, the Media Center continues to support academic success and foster a love for reading.

United as Patriots: Celebrating Spirit, Building Connections!

Students and teachers unite weekly for fun activities that build pride and a strong sense of belonging

Freedom Fridays: Building Connections Through Fun!

Our amazing students from the SGA School Spirit and School Service Committees continue to make a difference by helping everyone feel more connected through monthly lunchtime activities. This month’s Freedom Friday was a huge success, thanks to the incredible participation of the Spanish National Honor Society, AVID Council, Sophomore Class, Little Lights Club, National American Cancer Society, Freshman Class, and School Spirit Committee.
Students and teachers came together to enjoy schoolwide games, music, and activities, creating a fun, unified atmosphere. These events are a wonderful reminder of how student leadership and collaboration bring our Freedom campus to life!

Connecting Students and Teachers Through Tradition

Every year, our incredible Physics teacher, Mr. Correa, brings learning to life through his Colombian Cultural Day, an event that blends education, connection, and delicious treats! This special activity gives students and teachers the opportunity to explore Colombia’s geography, traditions, and iconic places, all while enjoying authentic Colombian flavors prepared by Mr. Correa himself.
Students delighted in traditional treats such as obleas, guava paste with cheese, Coffee Delight, and the famous Bon Bon Bum candies. More than just a culinary experience, this event is part of an international teacher cultural exchange, helping build stronger relationships and cultural awareness across our campus.
Thank you, Mr. Correa, for sharing your heritage and creating such a meaningful and memorable experience for our students!

SGA Spreads Holiday Cheer with Faculty Gift Wrapping!

The holiday season is in full swing, and our SGA students are making it brighter for our faculty! This week marked the first of two Faculty Gift Wrapping events planned for the year, and it was a huge success. With teachers juggling a busy schedule, our student leaders stepped in to lend a helping hand, bringing smiles and holiday spirit to every package they wrapped.
This thoughtful tradition is just one of the many ways our SGA students show appreciation and support for our hardworking faculty. We can’t wait for the next event as we continue spreading joy across campus!

Sports at Freedom: Fun with Purpose

Our sports classes are more than just games—they embody rigor, excellence, and tradition, just like everything else at Freedom High School. While students enjoy staying active and having fun, these classes also challenge them to develop discipline, teamwork, and resilience.
A great example is Coach McFerren’s Volleyball class, where students not only learn the fundamentals of the game but also focus on strategy, communication, and skill development. These sessions build confidence and foster a competitive spirit, preparing students to excel both on and off the court.

We ask all families to prioritize regular attendance to ensure your student is present and engaged.
