The Patriot Report

A weekly newsletter for our Freedom High School community #2

From the Desk of Charles France, Principal

Dear Patriot Families,

This week has been a shining example of the excellence we strive for at Freedom High School. I’m proud to share just a few of the incredible accomplishments from our students and staff:
Our Swim Team continues to make us proud! Following a strong performance at the Regional Competition, Eva and Katie Schischa qualified for the State Championship in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke events. Their dedication and success are a reflection of the hard work and spirit of our entire team. We celebrate their achievements and the incredible season they've had so far.
Our Marching Band earned Superior ratings at last weekend’s MPA. An outstanding achievement that reflects their dedication and talent.
Our Theatre Department brought their one-act play “Squirrel Girl Goes to College” to the Florida Theatre Conference in Winter Haven, and we’re looking forward to another stellar performance this week.
We’re celebrating a new Baby Patriot. AP Mrs. Caliari, welcomed Baby Luca! During her maternity leave, Mr. Kline will be serving as Assistant Principal, and we’re grateful for his leadership and support.
It’s College Week, and our Guidance Department has planned daily activities to help students explore their future paths and celebrate their goals.
At Freedom, excellence isn’t just a goal. It’s our culture. Thank you for being part of a community that supports and celebrates every Patriot success.

With Patriot Pride,
Charles M. France

Academic Excellence: Where Patriots Achieve

Sweet Science: AP Bio Students Sip into Cell Communication

AP Biology students in Mrs. Singleton's and Ms. Jarmusch's class launched their cell communication unit with a hands-on lab using Gymnema tea, a natural compound that blocks sweet taste receptors. After swishing the tea, students were surprised to find their favorite treats tasted... not so sweet! Their challenge? Use biological reasoning to uncover why.
To add a fun twist, Mrs. Singleton's students dressed up for a tea party, turning the lab into a lively blend of science and celebration. It was a memorable start to a unit that’s all about decoding how cells talk!

Biology Bubble Lab

Students in Biology Honors classes explored cell membrane function through a hands-on bubble lab. Using soap films as a model, they demonstrated how protein channels allow large molecules to pass through the membrane, just like bubbles stretching to let objects through without popping. Mr. Brantley, Ms. Fierle, Ms. Singleton, Ms. Snyder, and Ms. Budnik provided this engaging activity to help bring abstract cellular processes to life in a fun and visual way!

Spotlight on the Arts: Where Patriot Talent Shines

Marching Band Earns Top Honors at MPA

On November 1st, Freedom High School’s Marching Band delivered a stellar performance at the Marching Band Music Performance Assessments (MPA), earning straight Superior ratings, the highest possible score, from every judge in every category. Under the direction of Dr. Antmann and Ms. Davis, our Patriot musicians showcased their precision, passion, and teamwork. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and the excellence they continue to represent!
