Freedom High School
Community Brief

Thank you for your commitment to making Freedom High School a place where "Demography does not Equal Destiny" and where "Learning Is Our Top Priority."

I would like to begin by announcing the FHS Class of 2019 graduation date of May 24, 2019, at 7:30 pm at the Amway Center. I know that is music to our seniors' ears. Please encourage your senior to continue working hard and finish strong. Our senior class sponsor, Mr. Youtz, will be providing important dates and events in the coming weeks.

This past week, I was able to watch our phenomenal chorus display their talents at the Epcot Candlelight Processional. This is always a huge honor that is bestowed upon our hard working choral students, led by Choir Director, Ms. Shannon Lyles, and Assistant Choir Director, Mr. Terence Madlangbayan.

Our entire performing arts department is incredible. In fact, the entire department will be on display this Saturday for their annual holiday extravaganza know as PRISM. Do not miss out on seeing this incredible show!

Thank you all for your unwavering commitment to your child's success.  This year is about teaching children to do 'Whatever It Takes' for them to be successful.

Sincerely,

Ms. Cheryl Neely Mir
Principal

Rigor Around the Campus
Principles of Engineering with Mr. Houck - Solar Powered Car Races

Mr. Kevin Houck facilitates the solar powered car race

Rigor in the classroom is on display in Mr. Kevin Houck's Principles of Engineering classes. Recently, his students demonstrated the use of solar energy to power their own, hand built race cars. His classes were split into teams. Each team was able to use two solar panels to power their car. Everything else was up to their engineering including gear ratio, or no gears at all, wheel size, number of wheels, bearings, front or rear drive, etc.

PRISM

The 16th Annual Prism Concert - a Holiday-themed entertainment spectacular that is the premier concert event at Freedom High School! Prism is one continuous show held in complete darkness, with no applause, that celebrates the spirit of the season! PRISM is a "Benefit Concert" for the FHS Food Pantry. The FHS Food Pantry sends these students away on the Winter Break with a box of food and provisions for the student and his/her family to cover the entire two-week Winter Break. Please consider making a donation to the health and safety of these students! Guests needing wheelchair access should email Mr. Hellhake at [email protected]
