Freedom High Community Member,
Freedom High School's Theatre Department presents the fall play "Leading Ladies", October 18th-October 20th.  Let's get out to show our support for the first production of the year.  Looking forward to seeing the product of all the dedication and hard work that the students and directors have put into this performance!

Tutoring
Parents, now is the time to act, please review your student's grades. In an effort to assist your student with additional support, all instructional classroom staff offer tutoring. So please, parents, work with your child's teachers to identify their days for support.

Saturday School Amnesty Day
Parents, if your child need to make up quizzes, tests or missed assignments, or if they need to catch up with their online class, our Saturday School Amnesty program is available to all. Our Saturday School instructor, Ms. Rachel Chapman, is here to assist and can be reached via e-mail at [email protected] should you have any questions. Students are to report to the media center from 9:00 am until noon.

Also, on Saturdays, FHS offers specific content tutoring with Biology and U.S. History. So if your child needs assistance with Biology report to Ms. Naphier in room 632 or for assistance with US History report to Mr. Domenz in room 609.

Thank you all for your unwavering commitment to your child's success. This year is about teaching children to do 'Whatever It Takes' for them to be successful.

Sincerely,

Ms. Cheryl Neely Mir
Principal

Leading Ladies
FHS Fall Show, October 18-20

In this hilarious comedy, two English Shakespearean actors, Jack and Leo, find themselves so down on their luck that they are performing "Scenes from Shakespeare" on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. When they hear that an old lady in York, PA is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long lost English nephews, they resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. The trouble is, when they get to York, they find out that the relatives aren't nephews, but nieces! Romantic entanglements abound, especially when Leo falls head-over-petticoat in love with the old lady's vivacious niece, Meg, who's engaged to the local minister. Meg knows that there's a wide world out there, but it's not until she meets "Maxine and Stephanie" that she finally gets a taste of it.

Come out and see our wonder cast directed by Sara Skinner-Probst. The show runs October 18-20, show time is 7:00 pm in our performing arts center. Tickets are $9.00 and can purchased online at www.fhsboxoffice.com or at the door.

Special Recognition
CTE Success at FHS
They are colleagues now, but were once teacher and student just a few short years ago. Kristal Armstrong met Zach Pahler while she was visiting classrooms to recruit students for OTC dual enrollment. Zach was failing his academic courses but had an interest in computers. Kristal encouraged Zach to improve all of his grades to Cs and above so he could apply to the Computer Systems Information Technology (CSIT) program at OTC. Zach improved his grades by the following semester and was accepted into the CSIT program as a dual enrollment student.

After graduating from Freedom High School, Zach went on to complete the CSIT program and became the President of Skills USA at OTC Mid Florida campus. He has earned industry certifications and college credits. Today he is an instructor at the very same OTC computer program he graduated from and is Changing Lives Through Education at the OTC Mid Florida campus. CTE it's a beautiful thing!

Boys' Golf
The boys' golf team had two matches canceled between last week and this week, but in their limited action they have been successful! They picked up victories over Oak Ridge and East River, thanks to strong performances by Juniors JD Ouellette and Krit Hiranphanit.

Girls' Golf

The girls' golf team is overcoming a few injuries, but the team seems to be rounding into shape just in time for post season play! Senior Jennifer Perez, Senior Emily Staples, and Sophomores Gabriella Shortridge and Lauren Clark hope to lead the Patriots back to states this year where they took 3rd place in 2017!

Cross Country
The cross country team ran a really good race this past Saturday at the Annual Darter Invitational. The weather was perfect and they even conquered the hills well at this brutal course. Girls placed 12 out of 15, with boys placing 18 out of 23. The team was satisfied individually as well as overall and are looking forward to the upcoming West Orange Invitational at West Orange High School

Bowling
The boys' bowling team is 3-4 heading into next week's tri-match vs University, Colonial and East River at Boardwalk Lanes. The games will begin at 2:30pm. Admission is free, so come out and support the boys bowling team.

The team showed tremendous team spirit and sportsmanship swimming against some determined swimmers at both Jones High School and Evans High School. Also, Congratulations to Thiago Rego who broke the school record for the 200 freestyle at Wednesday night's meet and to Renne Emerson who place 1st in her heat of the 200 freestyle. The team will compete in Metro Conference meet on Tuesday at Winter Park High School. Great job Freedom swimmers and keep up the hard work!

Monday's Motivational Moment!
THE VALUE OF FIVE MINUTES

Napoleon wrote that the reason why he beat the Austrians was that they did not know the value of five minutes. It took Lincoln less than five minutes to deliver his immortal Gettysburg Address. It took William Jennings Bryan less than five minutes to electrify a great political convention with but a single expression that gave him the nomination for the presidency of the United States.

Time is usually wasted
in the same way every day.

------------

Make it a great week Patriots and please remember . . .
"If you see something, say something."
